Miniature Rooms
A miniature room is the ideal project for a new or seasoned miniaturist. It is less daunting and time consuming that finishing entire dolls house and is can be small enough to be displayed on the wall, in a cabinet or on a table.
Adelaide enjoys designing and constructing miniature room scenes that are mostly in 1:12 scale or dolls house scale. Other smaller scale miniature rooms are installed depending on the scene which she calls the “Room in Room” concept. She combines her experience in constructing real size houses with her art, model making and interior design background to create miniature rooms that are unique works of art.
Adelaide’s signature miniature room is called The Blue Room completed in May 2005. She designed this room to host a collection of blue china and glass wear. External dimensions are 11"H x 9"W x 7"D.
Inspiration
for the room was the wedgewood blue wallpaper. Wall Cabinets were
deisgned to fit three of the wall panels. The lighting is 12 volt for
the wall lights and LED for the down lights in the wall cabinets The
chair is Bespaq and has been covered in the same blue fabric as the
curtain to the left. The display case has a miniature shell collection
in it. On top sits a silver tea service, a gold coloured crystal bell
and flowers in crystal vase. Tea anyone ?
An example of the “Room in Room” concept is The Quilter
miniature room completed in Nov 2006. External dimensions are 11"H x 14"W x 7"D.
There is a Miniature Room
Picture on the back left wall called The Sewing Room which is in 1:144 scale and depicts a sewing room theme. External dimensions are 2˝"H x 3˝"W x 1"D.Sewing themes are reflected in lots of Adelaide's miniatures.
Both rooms were published in the Spanish miniature magazine Miniaturas SPAIN - April 2008, pages 16 to 19. See images of miniature rooms – go to left hand side of this page and hover
